Simple idea - go for it!
Some of my favorites are :
1)First and foremost - Splinter of the Mind's Eye-the McQuarrie artwork with Vader is just the best!
2)Sentenced to Prism (original pb release)- captures the futility of someone trapped within technology in an alien surrounding
3)Into the Out Of & To The Vanishing Point - (original Warner HC) - scary stuff! The claws and eyes coming from behind the map from ITOO and the decomposed look of the driver from TTVP - yikes!
4)The Moment of The Magician (original Warner pb) - got Jon-Tom and Mudge perfect!

Nor Crystal Tears and the covers of the Icerigger books are my favorites.

Jeff & Bob & all;
Some fun info....
1) On the SPLINTER cover, Luke and Leia are shown from behind because Mark Hamill & Carrie Fisher had not yet made a deal with Lucas to use their likenesses in non-film material.
2) I designed the cover for the Warner edition of INTO THE OUT OF (although I actually like the cover for the British edition better).
3) I liked the Michael Whelan cover art for NOR CRYSTAL TEARS so much that I bought it. The thranx is not very accurate (much too big, for one thing), but the cover captures the moment and sense of wonder perfectly. I also bought the Dean Ellis cover painting for the first printing of ICERIGGER, though again, I think the Tim White cover for the British edition (of the same scene) is better.
4) Note that on the VANISHING POINT cover, we are looking at sunsets both front and rear...an impossibility, except in fantasy.
4) Among my favorites are the covers for the SF book club edition of THE MAN WHO USED THE UNIVERSE (Jill Bauman), the Kevin Johnson cover for the Phantasia Press edition of THE PATHS OF THE PERAMBULATOR, the Italian MAORI, the British hardcover of MIDWORLD, and most recently, the SF book club omnibus edition of THE FOUNDING OF THE COMMONWEALTH trilogy and the Del Rey DROWNING WORLD. Bob Eggleton's award-winning cover for the Del Rey HOWLING STONES is also very nice.
5) SF Book club covers can be more true to the story because the club does not need to attract casual readers in stores.

This is a toss up between BLOODHYPE and THE END OF THE MATTER. Both covers accurately (for me) capture the descriptions portrayed in the books of both Peot and Skua September. Awesome works!

My favorite cover is the one for NOR CRYSTAL TEARS.

One look at that, with a Human and this giant insect standing face-to-face, and I decided I would like it.

MIDWORLD, and SENTENCED TO PRIZM, are my favorites. They should consider making them into movies.
