Alan, sorry to hear about all the pets passing on. Hard enough to say goodbye to one, but 3 in a row, ouch.

Agree on Moon, I don't understand why it didn't get any nominations, I enjoyed it way more than District 9.

In re Moon: one actor (remember Solaris?), straightforward SF, no gun battles, no sex, serious tone.

Bad combination for attracting Hwood award notices.

Beats me...my webmaster has gone elsewhere. I reckon if you fumble around you'll figure out how.

Have to agree with the reviews of "Moon." I stumbled across it on Netflix a month or so ago and loved it. I love those "To Tell The Truth" moments when someone finally asks the real Mr. X to please stand up... and either everyone or no one does.

Moon could have been made even cheaper and, I think, worked just as well. While the exterior model shots were fun, many of them could have been done differently or eliminated completely. Anyhew, the film really is all about the story (shock, shock!) and Rockwell's wonderful performance. He establishes himself and his character so well that by the time his clone shows up, you really do think of the arrival as another person, instead of the same actor in a new guise.

Another fine low-budget (star's salaries excepted) SF film that's on cable all the time is K-PAX. Worth it for the planetarium scene alone.
